Renewing solidarity and awareness of responsibility, with regard to the work of reconciliation demanded of churches in Africa
Here is a summary of a reflection put to us by our chaplain, Father Jean-Pierre Ranga.
So that the African Synod celebrated in Rome leaves some trace in the commitment of the movements which make up MIAMSI, I suggest the following reflection:
1- Welcome this synod as a time when the Spirit speaks to the churches in order to rediscover this impetus of hope in renewing the solidarity experienced between churches and nations in favour of Africa.
2- Be attentive in our discernment to the balance between the mystery of the incarnation and the mystery of redemption, so that groups and individuals, players in local development, may become aware of their responsibilities. Indeed, renewed hope in the future depends on the responsibilities of local people and institutions. We must take into account human realities as they are experienced and promises from God who comes to save the world on the basis of the mystery of the Lord’s death and resurrection.
3- Rediscover the Gospel pages which call on the church, and the individuals that make it up, to rely on God’s patience, on the healing brought by Christ in order to carry out his work of reconciliation today in the hearts of the people and in the institutions which unite the various relevant groups.
